What is CBT?
CBT is a course of tuition and assessment designed to get you off to a safe start. It is not a test, but it must be completed before you are allowed to ride unaccompanied on the road on a bike or scooter. It is normally completed in one day but it can be spread over a longer period if extra time is required to reach an acceptable standard.
You will learn the theory and the practical skills on our on-site training ground before we take you out on the road for a couple of hours in and around telford. As long as you have studied the Highway Code and are riding to an acceptable standard by the end, you will receive the certificate (DL196) that validates your licence.
The cost includes
Motorbike to practice on
Helmet and Gloves
Waterproofs if needed
6 hours training
Your CBT certificate is valid for two years, after which you would have to do it all over again. Your best option, however, is to progress to further training. Book more bike lessons to pass your test.

DIRECT ACCESS
If you are aged 21 or over, you do not have to take the test on a 125cc motorbike. You have the option to side step the power restriction by passing your test on a large motorcycle (over 35kW or 46.6bhp). This is called the Direct Access Scheme (DAS) and gives you direct access to an unrestricted licence.
At Rider Training in telford, we use the excellent Honda CBF500, having used its predessor the CB500 ever since the Direct Access Scheme started in 1997.
However, we don't let you loose on the big bike straight away. You will normally start with your CBT on a 125cc machine. We then give you more time on the smaller bike for another session or two on the road. Once we're satisfied that you'll be o.k., you will progress to the larger bike to continue your training and take your test.
